At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 3,219,300 shares in 680 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 74,546,504.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Tuesday, December 28), today’s data shows 47% decline in volume, 61% decline in turnover, and 18% decline in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.55 trillion.

In the aggregate, 43 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 21 gainers and 16 losers.

Nairobi Business Ventures Plc [NBV] led the gainers with ✅9.45% share price appreciation closing at KES 5.56 per share, followed by;

✅Olympia Capital Holdings [OCH] (+8.84%),
✅Kapchorua Tea Company Plc [KAPC] (+7.3%)
✅Sameer Africa Plc [SMER] (+3.73%).

On the losing side, Car and General Kenya Plc [CGEN] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of🔻 8.69% at KES 31.00 per share, followed by;

🔻Sasini Plc [SASN] (-5.25%)
🔻Home Afrika Plc [HAFR] (-5.13%)
🔻Umeme Limited [UMME](-3.71%).

KCB Group Plc [KCB] recorded the highest volume of 599,500 traded shares, followed by;

➖Safaricom Plc [SCOM] (330,800) and
➖Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (306,500).

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE.

Trading on the secondary bond market declined on the Nairobi Securities Exchange compared to Tuesday’s trading, with bonds valued at Kes 0.69 billion transacted in 49 deals compared to the Kes 2.30 billion worth of bonds achieved in 62 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.

There were no futures contracts traded in the derivatives segment on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
