At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 6,121,400 shares in 834 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 191,761,835.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Friday, December 24), today’s data shows 27% decline in volume, 37% decline in turnover, but 41% improvement in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.57 trillion.

In the aggregate, 49 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 18 gainers and 22 losers.

Britam Holdings Plc [BRIT] led the gainers with ✅6.25% share price appreciation closing at KES 7.48 per share, followed by;

✅Express Kenya Plc [XPRS](+4.94%)
✅Crown Paints Kenya Plc [CRWN] (+4.75%)
✅BK Group Plc [BKG] (+3.39%).

On the losing side, Standard Group Plc [SGL] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 🔻9.36% at KES 13.55 per share, followed by;

🔻Nation Media Group Plc [NMG] (-9.02%)
🔻Trans Century Plc [TCL] (-8.46%)
🔻Stanbic Holdings Plc [SBIC] (-5.71%).

Centum Investment Company Plc [CTUM] recorded the highest volume of 1.72 million traded shares, followed by;

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE.

Trading on the secondary bond market declined on the Nairobi Securities Exchange compared to Thursday’s trading, with bonds valued at Kes 2.30 billion transacted in 62 deals compared to the Kes 3.02 billion worth of bonds achieved in 66 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.

There were 11 futures contracts valued at Kes 467,110 thousand traded in the derivatives segment on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
