The trading bell on the Nairobi Securities Exchange trading floor.

At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 14,867,500 shares in 953 deals, corresponding to a market value of Kes 443,804,556.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Wednesday, September 29), today’s data shows 68% improvement in volume, 10% decline in turnover, and 26% decline in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is Kes 2.71 trillion.

In the aggregate, 40 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 12 gainers and 16 losers.

Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] led the gainers with a ✅7.21% share price appreciation closing at KES 6.84 per share, followed by:

✅Eveready East Africa Plc [EVRD] (+6.42%)
✅Nairobi Securities Exchange Plc [NSE] (+5.09%)
✅Co-operative Bank of Kenya Plc [COOP] (+2.30%).

On the losing side, WPP ScanGroup Plc [SCAN] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 🔻5.05% at KES 5.26 per share, followed by:

🔻Sameer Africa Plc [SMER] (-4.68%)
🔻Nation Media Group Plc [NMG] (-4.11%)
🔻BOC Kenya Plc [BOC] (-1.73%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 6.71 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (3.67m)
➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (1.84m)
➖Centum Investment Company Plc [CTUM] (696,800).

➡️The benchmark NSE All-Share Index [NASI] declined✅ 1.27 to close at 178.31
➡️The NSE 20 Share Index declined✅ 1.02 points to close at 2031.17
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined✅ 18.56 points to close at 3914.52

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a rise in activity with 21 single stock features valued at Kes 695,805 traded during today’s trading session compared to the 13 single stock features valued at Kes 483,450 traded during the previous trading session.

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a rise during Thursday’s trading session, with bonds valued at Kes 3.39 billion transacted in 85 deals compared to the Kes 9.13 billion worth of bonds achieved in 182 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.
