A total of 10,207,600 shares in 750 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 344,713,321.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Thursday, December 30), today’s data shows 292% improvement in volume, 360% improvement in turnover, and 3% improvement in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.52 trillion.

In the aggregate, 40 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 18 ✅gainers and 14 🔻losers.

East African Portland Cement Company [PORT] led the gainers with ✅9.90% share price appreciation closing at KES 6.66 per share, followed by:

✅Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] (+4.84%)
✅Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] (+4.35%)
✅Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (+3.43%).

On the losing side, Liberty Kenya Holdings Plc [LBTY] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 🔻5.41% at KES 7.00 per share, followed by:

🔻Flame Tree Group Holdings [FTGH] (-5.26%)
🔻Crown Paints Kenya [CRWN] (-4.54%)
🔻CIC Insurance Group Plc [CIC] (-3.49%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 6.8 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Centum Investment Company Plc [CTUM] (1.56m)
➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (524,300)
➖Home Afrika Plc [HAFR] (297,500).

➡️The benchmark NSE All-Share Index [NASI] gained ✅ 1.19 points to close at 166.46
➡️The NSE 20 Share Index gained ✅4.96 points to close at 1902.57
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained ✅28.81 points to close at 3743.90

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE.

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted an increase in value, compared to Thursday’s trading, with bonds valued at Kes 1.38 billion transacted in 29 deals compared to the Kes 1.33 billion worth of bonds achieved in 57 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a rise in activity with 10 single stock features valued at Kes 399,550 traded during today’s trading session compared to the 2 single stock features valued at Kes 78,260 traded during the previous trading session.
