At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE). [08-Jan-2020]

A total of 9,115,800 shares in 539 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 336,308,855.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Tuesday, January 7), today’s data shows 51% decline in volume, 48% decline in turnover, and 45% decline in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.54 trillion.

In the aggregate, 39 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 17 ✅gainers and 14 ?losers.

Home Afrika Plc [HAFR] led the gainers with ✅3.39% share price appreciation closing at KES 0.61 per share, followed by:

✅Sanlam Kenya Plc [SLAM] (+2.56%)
✅Kenya Airways Plc [KQ] (+1.55%)
✅Nairobi Securities Exchange [NSE] (+1.24%).

On the losing side, HF Group Plc [HFCK] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?-5.56% closing at KES 6.12 per share, followed by:

?Sasini Plc [SASN] (-4.61%)
?Britam Holdings Plc [BRIT] (-3.97%)
?Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] (-3.7%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 3.4 million traded shares, followed by:

➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (925,200)
➖Britam Holdings Plc [BRIT] (453,300).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] gained ✅0.68 points to close at 167.33

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index dropped ?1.56 points to close at 2670.06

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained ✅8.64 points to close at 4114.98

The Derivatives Market had no activity in today’s trading session, a drop from the 5 Barclays Bank Futures contract worth Kes. 66,750 traded yesterday.

The secondary Bond market at the NSE had 55 deals worth Kes 1.04 Billion, indicating a decline in activity on the Fixed income segment as compared to Yesterday’s 50 deals valued at Kes 803.77 Million.
