t the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 18,265,900 shares in 900 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 565,291,442.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Thursday, April 9), today’s data shows 32% decline in volume, 30% decline in turnover, and 8% decline in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.03 trillion.

In the aggregate, 39 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 19 ✅gainers and 15 ?losers.

Total Kenya Plc [TOTL] led the gainers with ✅8.64% share price appreciation closing at KES 23.90 per share, followed by;

✅Flame Tree Group Holdings [FTGH] (+8.57%)
✅Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] (+7.14%)
✅East African Breweries Plc [EABL] (+5.34%).

On the losing side, Kenya Airways Plc [KQ] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?7.20% closing at KES 1.16 per share, followed by:

?Diamond Trust Bank Kenya [DTB] (-6.14%)
?CIC Insurance Group Plc [CIC] (-5.31%)
?Eveready East Africa Plc [EVRD] (-3.53%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 10.5 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (3.23m)
➖Co-operative Bank of Kenya [COOP] (1.68m)
➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (1.28m).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] gained ✅2.52 points to close at 133.59

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index gained ✅ 3.12 points to close at 1970.26

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained ✅55.04 points to close at 3122.51

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NEXT) closed the first trading day of the week flat with no contracts concluded on the exchange.

Trading activities on secondary Bond market at the Nairobi Securities Exchange opened the week with a rise as bonds worth Kes 1.88 Billion transacted in 25  deals, as compared to Thursday’s turnover of Kes 536 Million which was achieved in 100 deals.
