At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 12,053,800 shares in 1,151 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 322,150,746.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Wednesday, April 15), today’s data shows 44% decline in volume, 48% decline in turnover, but 27% improvement in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.04 trillion.

In the aggregate, 46 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 19 gainers and 20 losers.

BOC Kenya Plc [BOC] led the gainers with ✅10.00% share price appreciation closing at KES 66.00 per share, followed by:

✅Unga Group Plc [UNGA] (+9.85%)
✅Liberty Kenya Holdings [LBTY] (+9.74%)
✅Flame Tree Group Holdings [FTGH] (+9.71%).

On the losing side, Co-operative Bank of Kenya [COOP] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?6.39% closing at KES 12.45 per share, followed by:

?Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation [KNRE] (-6.23%)
?Standard Chartered Bank Kenya [SCBK] (-5.69%)
?TPS Eastern Africa Plc [TPSE] (-5.06%).

Equity Group Holdings recorded the highest volume of 3.6 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Safaricom Plc [SCOM] (2.91m)
➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (2.41m)
➖Co-operative Bank of Kenya [COOP] (882,000).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] declined ?0.60 points to close at 134.64

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index declined ?15.62 points to close at 1968.78

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined ?17.84 points to close at 3135.39

The Derivatives Market of the NSE closed the day with no contracts concluded on the exchange.The derivatives market closed yesterday with  6 contracts traded worth Kes 104,000.

Trading activities on secondary Bond market at the Nairobi Securities Exchange doubled with bonds worth Kes 1.88 Billion trading in 77 deals, an 88.7% growth as compared to yesterday’s turnover of Kes 996.18 Million which was achieved in 25 deals.
