At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) [12-May-2020]

A total of 44,271,800 shares in 1,303 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 1,644,733,651.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Monday, May 11), today’s data shows 175% improvement in volume, 209% improvement in turnover, and 27% improvement in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.12 trillion.

In the aggregate, 43 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 8 ✅ gainers and 23 ? losers.

Kenya Airways Plc [KQ] led the gainers with ✅ 9.35% share price appreciation closing at KES 1.52 per share, followed by

✅ Flame Tree Group Holdings [FTGH] (+7.69%),
✅Eveready East Africa Plc [EVRD] (+6.67%)
✅Kapchorua Tea Company Plc [KAPC] (+2.86%).

On the losing side, Nairobi Securities Exchange Plc [NSE] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?8.81% at KES 8.90 per share, followed by:

?East African Cables Plc [CABL] (-5.26%),
?Nairobi Business Ventures Ltd [NBV] (-5.08%)
?Express Kenya [XPRS] (-4.14%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 24.1 million traded shares, followed by
➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (10.02m),
➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (6.17m)
➖Britam Holdings Plc [BRIT]. (900,000).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] declined ?1.23 points to close at 139.42

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index declined ? 14.96 points to close at 2038.99

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined ?29.28 points to close at 3320.10

The Derivatives market of the NSE had 10 contracts concluded in today’s session valued at Kes 712,200. These were the first trades of the week.

The secondary Bond market at the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a decline in turnover with bonds worth Kes 1.44 Billion trading compared to the previous day’s turnover of Kes 2.66 Billion. The number of deals, however, rose from 98 in the previous session to 119 deals in today’s session.
